Project: World Environment Day 2023.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It is supported by many non-governmental organizations, businesses, government entities, and represents the primary United Nations outreach day supporting the environment. This year’s theme was #BeatplasticPollution.
To celebrate this day, Back to Basics organized a nature trail walk and a tree planting event on 10th June 2023 at the Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary, Nairobi. Our aim on this day was to emphasize on the importance of environmental conservation and create awareness on the harmful effects of plastic pollution.
The event was attended by more than a hundred people and amongst them were local leaders, professionals from various companies, our women groups, the youth and children. Other than planting trees, the event also included other activities such as a 5KM nature trail, environmental clean-up, Exhibition of our Eco- friendly bags, networking with nature lovers, Music and dance.
